On March 23rd 2023, Github announced self-service SBOMs for those repositories available on the platform.

Can we consider this as a major breakthrough for the development, exploitation and consumption of SBOMs? What are the key learnings we can derive from this development? What types of key information are Gits serving, over and above the basic required information? Or none whatsoever?
